Fire fighter Steve!

Today we were very lucky and had a Fire fighter called Steve come to visit us in School.

He told us all about the important job he does to keep people safe and to rescue people in emergencies.

We enjoyed listening about all the equipment he has to use and some of us chose to try on his hat!

Thank you to Steve for giving up his time and coming into school to talk to us.

Hilltop Astronauts

Last week in Class 1 we tried Astronaut food as part of our Science Week. We got the chance to taste some freeze-dried bananas and Neapolitan ice cream. The food was so yummy but did not feel like regular food, it was dry and crunchy!

Blast off!!!

This week we have been learning all about Space! We were so lucky to have a Science Dome come in to our school on Monday and we all had the chance to go inside and learn all about Space exploration. Mr G told us all about the International Space Station and about the amazing astronauts who have been into Space. We have spent the rest of this week talking about what we learnt in the dome as well as doing lots of Space related activities.

Wow, what a start!

We have had such a great start to the Summer term in Class 1. We have already been extremely busy starting our new topic looking at the differences in our World. We have been reading a very special book called ‘Handa’s Surprise’ and learning all about Ghana in Africa. We have been talking all about how different it is for children living in Ghana compared to us in the UK and have all written letters to Mrs Mackenzie asking lots of questions about Ghana and the way of life for the people in Ghana.

We also had a fantastic time celebrating the Queen’s 90th birthday last week and we had a tea party with the rest of the school. It was so much fun! We performed our country dancing routine to years one and two. We also celebrated by eating cucumber sandwiches that we made all by ourselves!

We are so proud of how well Class 1 have come back from the Easter break with smiling faces and enthusiasm, ready to start the new term. Keep up the great work!

Happy Easter!

We have had such a wonderful week in Class 1. We really enjoyed playing in the roleplay area in our classroom today pretending to be the Easter Bunny. We decorated eggs and wrapped them up so that they were ready to be delivered.

We also had so much fun at the Egg Rolling event. We all did our best to make our egg roll the furthest down the hill without breaking. Thank you to all of our grown ups for supplying us with all of the eggs that we decorated and rolled in school today.

We hope you have a wonderful Easter and we look forward to seeing all of your smiling faces after the Easter Break. Thank you Class 1 for another brilliant term!

We are super!

As we are all super, we have been doing lots of work on superheroes this week in Class 1.

superWe have been talking about what makes us super and about which super powers we would want to have if we were superheroes. Do you know what super power you would choose?

Here are some pictures of us in our superhero masks that we made in class.

We were so happy to read all about the super things that you do at home. Reading the To and Fro books made us feel very proud especially to hear about all the things our class do to help at home.

We hope you all had a very lovely Mother’s Day at the weekend.

Pancake day fun!

We had such a great time yesterday at Forest School and learnt all about what we need to survive. We could tell Mrs Walter that we needed food, drink and warmth to live and we made sure that we had all of these things. We all had a drink of water and then we made a fire. We learnt all about how to stay safe around fires and how to safely create a fire. We then made delicious pancakes outside. They were so yummy and we really enjoyed eating what we had made together.

Money, money, money!

We have really enjoyed money fortnight in Class 1. We had such a great time looking at all of the stalls and seeing what each class were selling at our school Market Place. We also completely sold out of our playdough of which we made all by ourselves!

In class today, we looked at all different types of coins and we will soon be counting up all the money we have raised. We can’t wait to see how much we were able to make our money grow!

Money week!

We have had such a lovely week in Class 1 raising money for Money Week!uk-coins-sml

We made biscuits to sell which were delicious! We all took part in decorating our biscuits with yummy icing and little marshmallows and they obviously tasted as good as they looked because we completely sold out after school on Wednesday.

This week we also made lots of other things that we plan to sell at our school Market Place next week.

We made our own playdough in lots of different colours and these will be on sale in little pots for just 20p!

We are so proud of how hard we have worked to raise money this week and hope that all of Class 1 have a wonderful weekend.
